Behold the BattleBox -- that steel encasement of Hell. Engineered for maximum safety on the outside and supreme torture on the inside, this 35-ton thunder dome is where the bots do their battling, some never to return. Rigged with various traps and hazards, bots drivers have to use the arena to their advantage, working it against their opponent -- not the other way around. Designed by Peter Lambertson and his expert crew of metal heads, the BattleBox is the ultimate arena for robot combat. BattleBox Specifications: The BattleBox floor is a collection of 144 - 4' x 4' x 2' modules Each module has a steel super structure covered by 1/8" steel floor plating The floor is painted with black traction paint All floor modules are laser leveled to match each other in terms of height The floor is ferrous The total dimensions of the finished area are 48' x 48' x 2' The walls of the BattleBox are made of Lexan® Sheet, which is a product of GE Polymershapes. The walls are 1 inch thick and 24 feet high There is a thick grade plastic ceiling covering the roof of the BattleBox Robots enter the BattleBox via the 8' x 16' ramps There are two 8' x 8' entry and exit doors Bots begin their match from either the red square or the blue square Contestants control their bot from the 8' x 12' x 3' stage -- either the red stage or the blue stage. Hazards and Arena Weapons: (photos and video coming soon) KILL SAWS: Rest in pieces! Each Kill Saw unit contains four, 20 inch, carbide tipped, SystiMatic saw blades. The blades are powered by a 220 volt, 3.5 horse power motor and can raise and lower with over 60 lbs. of pneumatic force. PULVERIZERS: Don't get cornered or these heavy duty aluminum mallets will pulverize your BattleBots, pounding it back to the individual parts it was made from. HELL RAISERS: Its an uplifting experience! Compressed air raises a hidden piece of eighth inch steel plate 6 inches in the air. These Hell Raisers are 3 feet by 4 feet in dimension. RAM RODS: Surprise! 6 carbide tipped spears raise from the BattleBox floor with over 60 lbs. of pneumatic force. Each rod is an inch in diameter reinforced with 4 steel gussets. The rods protrude 6 inches from the floor. SPIKE STRIP: Get your opponent on the ropes! The perimeter of the BattleBox is laced with over 180 carbide tipped spikes. Each 1 inch diameter spike is sharpened to fine point that protrudes 3 inches from the steel reinforce back plate. THE VORTEX: Don't get too close or these three foot diameter robot record players will disrupt your driving.
